Where custom profiles really comes in handy is with 3rd party media suppliers. Currently I use two Copal DBP 1500 dye subs, which comes with a choice of not one but three different media suppliers (Copal, Fuji and a NON OEM media supplier). Currently the NON OEM supplier is pounds cheaper than both Copal or Fuji. The flipside is that the 3rd party media set produces a notoriously crap print straight out of the printer, non-profiled. Given the fact that profiling each printer in your stable isn't going to cost a load of money, given the proven benefits, I can't see what's wrong with suppliers such as Photomart providing this type of service.

I understand the requirement that people have, and it is nice that they want Photomart to provide it , but there are one to many variables involved. A job like this is often batter handled by a concern who deal with soultions at this level - so for instance Pure Profiles have often come out well - and I usually suggest people go to them.

It is often the best to stick to what you do best.

I agree with you Mark. I've used Pure Profiles - excellent service, simple and very reasonable probably because they only do profiles which is quite a specialist area. I'd sooner Photomart concentrated on good prices, knowledge and after sales service on the kit they supply - which you do very well.

Incidentally for the Mits 9550 I have tried profiles from Mits, Photomart, System Insight and Pure Profile. Mits I agree was pretty bad (I believe that is because it's still the original one when it was first released and changes to hardware, software and media has occurred over the years, well that's what they told me, they really should do a new one). System Insight and Photomart far better and usable, the difference between the two I think is only personal preference. Pure Profiles top marks but you would expect that as it was made for a particular printer and a reasonably recent batch of media.
