I recently tried to order a Canon 7D & WFT-E5B from Warehouse Express as they have been recommended in this forum so much (and they had the best price!)
I put in my order as normal and paid with my VISA, then got the usual replies to say they had received the order.
After an hour i got another email from them, asking for a copy of my driving license or a utility bill as proof of my name and address.
I immediately thought this was spam and rang the sales office to find out what was going on.
They told me that since i was in Ireland, they would not send the order through unless i provided the documentation. so i cancelled the order.
I regulary buy goods from the UK (photomart, Jigsaw24, etc) and this is the first time I've come across this.
The only time i've had to provide documentation is if i was setting up a credit account.
I understand the issues of fraud and identity theft but what guarantees do i have passing my identity to a company in the UK.
I thought the whole idea using VISA 3D Secure or PAYPAL is that it's more secure
Well Congratulations, Warehouse Express, you're just lost £2,000 and any future business !
Has anyone else come across this or is it just us irish folk they don't trust !!
Can anyone recommend a good supplier for canon gear ?
