5d 3 wireless or tethered or eye fi

what the best method of connecting the canon 5d3 to a laptop?

its important not to mess up with slow speeds or dropped files as these will totally mess up the sequence.

but i must consider the costs aswell

    It depends

Tethered is good if you are within a couple of meters of the print station and there is no chance of anyone walking between you and the print station/laptop. If shooting tethered it is recommended that a 'loop' is put in the cable at the camera end to avoid pulling on the camera usb port. Cheapest by far.

Canon WFT will give you more flexibility on movement but will also require an Access Point and FTP server. It can be configured as a direct (ad-hoc) connection but I have found using an AP to be far more reliable. Most expensive.

Eye-fi cards are very range limited. There are ways of overcoming this but it is a bit messy. Transfer speeds can be inconsistent. Relatively cheap (compared to WFT).

If you are shooting from a fixed position and ideally on a tripod then tethered is a good option.
