At the beginning of August we loaded Google Analytics to our website. This is a superb free tool for anyone not using it.

From the information provided by Analytics we have noticed that the second biggest route to our site after Google is Facebook which surprised me. Incidentally Twitter was way down the list.

For anyone that hasn't got a Facebook Group set up then it is obviously worthwhile.

So there are 2 points to this thread
1. To encourage people that Facebook is a good tool to direct customers to your site
2. Why don't we all become fans of each others sites this is the link to ours if anyone wants to become a fan http://www.facebook.com/pellierevents

Hi Paul.

The Facebook idea sounds great, I just had a look and was mightily impressed with your event portraits, very nice.

I have a facebook account and so far haven't really used it much, how do I create an account of this type? Is it different to a standard Facebook account? it looks different to others I have seen. Normally, you become a 'friend' but on yours its a 'fan' How does that work then?

Great work.

Norman

Many thanks for your kind comments.

What you see on Facebook is a new page which allows fans instead of guests. Log into your account and then follow this link to create a new Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

I use facebook for keeping up with personal friends but got to admit don't really understand it. What's the difference between between creating a page and creating a group ??

Go to http://www.facebook.com/username/ there you can add a name at the end of your facebook/fan page address, but not a group.

For example http://www.facebook.com/PellierEvents

Rob

Open your facebook page's "PROFILE" tab. Find the "links" link and click on it. In there you will see the option to add a link.

So presumably, I need to create a second user name and sign in, as I trade as PhotoEventers and my Facebook account is in my personal name

I am obviously missing something as I don't get a links option on my profile page, and if I goto the newly created PhotoEventers page, I do have a links option but no way of adding a link

I got a bit muddled a while ago, I wanted to set up a facebook account as Moments Photography, but for some reason it wouldn't allow me to.

So, I used my personal page, then created a group which I linked to my website. The problem is I also created a fan page which attracted the most 'fans'.

I don't really know what the difference is between a group page and a fan page, which is the best to keep and try and move everybody over to????

I also get the same tabs, when viewing the page, but if I click on the "Links" tab, there appears to be no way of adding a link
