Eye Fi Cards

Hi All,
Does anyone use eye fi cards to get images from their cameras to the pc?
I just wonder if this works/how well this works?
Also I would like to know that if the eye fi card gets the images to the computer that's great, but then the router would still need to get the images from the PC to the viewing stations (iPads) ... Any one have any experiences to share either good or bad!

Eye fi works great over a limited range. It is not possible to use with every camera so you would need to check compatability with your camera. A dedicated transmitter can both save and send images whereas the eye fi can do one or the other not both. If you are covering a very busy event and are continually shooting it is not viable. If however as is normally the case you have a few minutes here and there for it to transmit then it is a cheap and reliable solution to wireless transmition.
