Having tried to use Olmec paper in a Citizen printer, I can confirm that (at the moment) it doesn't work. The idea behind using the Olmec paper is that is a bit cheaper than the Citizen stuff - and apparently identical. However it's not.
Following some discussion with Phil Hynds and some personal investigation I can confirm that the Citizen and Olmec papers contain a transponder RFID system in the "ink" roll. This not only identifies that the paper is Citizen or Olmec (and probably the paper width too) but also seems to record the number of prints the roll has made - thus preventing you swapping over the transponders from old Citizen rolls to new Olmec rolls.
Full marks to Photomart in taking my paper back when we found it didn't work!!!
Maybe someday some bright spark will figure out how to reset the print counters in the transponder. Until then, we'll just have to stump up the extra cost of the Citizen paper - and yes - feel a bit ripped off about it...
