A word of caution, before any of you guys go running off to getr the new whizz bang computers with Windows 7 - it may be some time before the print drivers wil be ready , and in some cases maybe never at all.

You can implement in an XP mode or Vista mode in most cases so some testing on a virtual machine would be prudent but in theory you should be OK but testing will tell.

Couldn't agree more Mark.

Stay away from Windows 7 and Dye Sub printers for a long time.....

We all know about compatibility modes.......

I have just had issues with Snow Leopard and a few printers although the fix was quite easy.

My advice is only upgrade if you need to.....

We even had a call about a customer with a HiTi 631PS (4 years old now!) and Windows 7. Although Hiti are onw of the best with drivers to be honest, even they didn't have any!

Reminds me.....Must phone Ford about an Ipod connection for my Mark 1 Escort...... :D

Kind Regards

Bit of an alarmist statement there! My business partner has recently upgraded his PC to Win7 and we're using 9550s. The only issue he's encountered is the lack of a remaining prints counter in the printer properties. Otherwise we're getting some mighty fine photos printed from it.

David , I wasn't being alarmist , it was a precautionary warning. If you have had no problem , then that is very fortunate.

It would be good to keep this issue in mind, as I have seen a few examples of it happening since.

I'm not saying they won't work but we have had lots of calls from customers who can't get equipment working with Windows 7.

I put it down to experience with new operating systems (especially from Microsoft) and specialist non mainstream equipment . We aren't talking about epson / hp /canon / lexmark inkjet printers which are sold in the 100,000's here. When even the big boys like Mitsy only have beta drivers from Windows 7 that should say something. HiTi are the only company at the moment (that I know of!) that have Windows 7 drivers for all current (and some old) printers.

When new OS's come out I ask myself the question....Do I need to upgrade? Sometimes with new PC's you have no choice of course.

Look how long PC manufacturers shipped PC's with a Vista and a downgrade to XP.

Some corporates are still running Windows 2000!

If it ain't broke.....don't fix it....

Kind Regards

Many manufacturer's Vista drivers were produced based on (of for) 32-bit Vista.

64-bit Vista drivers were not developed (mainly due to the extra expense / complexity / time / etc.) but in hindsight luckily because of the poor uptake of Vista, certainly in 64-bit format.

Unfortunately, Windows 7 drivers are apparently 64-bit drivers so it has now come back to cause some problems....

Our developers are suggesting March 2010 but hoping to get an earlier delivery; I would guess many other manufacturers will be in a similar situation.

We were about to downgrade the one-and-only Vista machine we use to XP (as it had caused so many problems) but Windows 7 arrived just in time. The same slow 'problem' machine is now quite usable under Windows 7.

Just as a note Hiti have produced a Windows 7 64 bit driver for the 510S, which is readily downloadable from their website.

Interesting that they should get their first . I am sure Mitsubishi will have guys working overtime on it , and likewise Sony too.
